The year 2017 has been a rewarding one for SCHAF. We focused on our mission through our 3-pronged strategy of Preventive approaches, Improved Care and applicable Research. We successfully introduced our ‘Know Your Genotype’ (KYG) programme to a 5th institution for localized awareness; finalized a Project “VOICE” detailing the experiences of members living with SCD and now awaiting publication; drafted a VIDEO on SCHAF yet to be aired; completed and submitted a research grant proposal for funding. This would not have been possible without the unflinching support of our eminent sponsors, our dedicated professional and volunteer team, and our committed SCHAF Members. Thank you!
SCHAF is committed more than ever in 2018, to increase our impact across our 3 strategic pillars:
To increase Awareness, SCHAF will target Artisan groups who constitute a significant proportion of the Nigerian workforce.
To improve Care, SCHAF will Empower SCD affected Youths by partnering with relevant Agencies to train them in IT, Catering services, Auto Mechanics, Plumbing, Fashion designing, Shoe/leather works and Electronics to build their financial base.
SCHAF will also partner with Pharmaceutical Companies to support the provision of SCD routine drugs.
For Research, SCHAF will further commit to Translational Health Research on confounding factors of SCD burden among Nigerians.
All these put together, will further result in improved outcomes to reduce the burden of Sickle Cell Disease in Nigeria.
