The atmosphere was filled with joy, relief, and gratitude as the Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation (SCHAF) hosted its annual gifting day on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The annual event, which has become a cherished SCHAF tradition, once again brought together Sickle Cell Warriors, caregivers, benefactors, partners, and friends of the Foundation to celebrate resilience and extend much-needed support to People Living with Sickle Cell Disease (PLWSCD).
This special end-of-year outreach underscores SCHAF’s unwavering commitment to care, advocacy, empowerment, and community strengthening.

Honoring Warriors and Deepening Community Support
The 2024 programme recorded a strong turnout of SCD Warriors, caregivers, SCHAF Trustees, volunteers, partner organizations, and media representatives.
A highlight of the gathering was the presentation of the cash gift earlier promised to PLWSCD by the Honourable Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adebola Ogundoyin, given in memory of his father, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin.

As part of SCHAF’s tradition of care, a wide range of support materials were distributed, including:
- Routine medications used in the management of Sickle Cell Disease
- Food items and nutritional support packages
These distributions provided much-needed relief during the festive season and reinforced SCHAF’s commitment to promoting health, dignity, and joy among PLWSCD.

Strengthening Partnerships and Appreciation
SCHAF expressed deep gratitude to its benefactors, partners, and volunteers—individuals and institutions whose consistent generosity makes the Gifting Day possible each year. Their contributions continue to sustain the Foundation’s mission and amplify its impact across communities.
The support and participation of all stakeholders made the 2024 edition a heartwarming success, embodying the spirit of compassion and collective responsibility.

Moving Forward
The SCHAF 2024 December Gifting Day concluded on a note of hope and renewed energy. As the Foundation prepares for upcoming programs in 2025, SCHAF remains committed to enhancing care for SCD Warriors and deepening empowerment initiatives.
Together, with the continued support of friends and partners, SCHAF will keep advancing its mission of bringing hope alive—one warrior at a time.
